North Carolina educator named new Minuteman superintendent
Bouquillon retiring
UPDATED Feb. 3: The Minuteman School Committee has voted to name Dr. Kathleen Dawson as the new superintendent.
School spokesman Dan O'Brien told YourArlington about the vote Feb. 3 and said the committee is waiting to issue a full news release once a contract is signed.
Dawson, deputy superintendent of Orange County Schools in North Carolina, will replace Dr. Edward A. Bouquillon, who plans to retire at the end of June after a successful 15-year tenure leading the district.
The committee voted in favor of Dawson Jan. 26.
A screening committee of faculty, staff, parents and School Committee members recommended the finalists to the Minuteman School Committee, and they visited Minuteman on three consecutive Wednesdays – Jan. 5, 12 and 19 – to meet with and answer questions from students, parents, faculty and staff, and advisory committee members.
